The stabbing happened in Putnam County on Sunday, Jan. 28 just before 3 p.m. at Hudson Valley Airsoft, located in Carmel on the Paladin Center Campus on Seminary Hill Road.
According to Carmel Police Lt. Michael Bodo, the suspect, identified as 20-year-old Justin Pagan of Bedford Hills, became involved in a dispute with a 33-year-old Mount Vernon resident during a game of airsoft, which is a military simulation sport.
During the fight, Pagan allegedly took out a fixed-blade knife and stabbed the victim six times in the chest and torso area. In the process of the stabbing, he also cut his own hand, Bodo said.
Both Pagan and the victim were later taken to Danbury Hospital for their injuries. Pagan was soon released, while the victim remains hospitalized in stable condition with several stab wounds and a collapsed lung.
After his release, Pagan was taken into custody by Carmel Police detectives and charged with:
- Second-degree attempted murder;
- First-degree assault;
- Fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon.
Pagan was later arraigned in court and remanded to the Putnam County Correctional Facility on $150,000 cash bail or $300,000 secured bond.
